From The Guardian concerning a sign seen in a Police canteen in Christchurch, New Zealand: 'Will the person who took a slice of cake from the Commissioner's Office return it immediately. It is needed as evidence in a poisoning case.
They laughed at Einstein. They laughed at the Wright Brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.
OMG ..it's that "time" of the year .. no no not for filing your Form 16’s,duh!, its 2 years since I started blogging …wow.. 2 years.. sigh*. In this duration I have been fortunate to have met so many wonderful people and I have been successful in making quite a few close friends too. (wink wink ). Updating my blog with “loos” posts, making innumerable typo’s and reading your comments has been such a pleasing journey.
Of course a few of you know that my greatest fear in life is “being predictable“ and I have sincerely made an effort to be spontaneous and “loos”. The past two years have been splendid but the icing on the cake has to be a few emails from people who had accidentally bumped into my blog and went on to become regular readers. Thank you.
I would genuinely like to apologize to all the people whom I have made fun of in my previous posts (Dee, Sajjan, my sister..hehe…) and I solemnly promise to continue the trend. Call me a meanie but please don’t forget to pass the brownie.
In my very first post I had promised the reader” Watch out for some amazingly funny articles, wacky 1 liners and cool pics.”
And I think I have kept my word. ;-)
Thank you for spending your valuable time on my blog.
Now we celebrate….pluuuck *opens the vodka ….gulp gulp..aaaaaah..
Could you please pass the mango pickles.
Last friday ,my cousin and bil ,invited me to a night show(9.30pm).I was surprised when people started coming in groups, fat aunties, uncles and lil kids....wow ...... it was full... night show full? Yep.
The film was hilarious and we had a rocking time. Sharman Joshi was too good (watch out for this dude in the forthcoming movies). Some dialogues were so .. silly yet puny: "Tum wapas India kaise aa gaye? "Woh maine Swades dekhi thi “.
Paresh Rawal and Mukherjee's takeoff on Dilip Kumar and Vyajanthimala from "Madhumati" is a master-stroke, “ tum kya kaar rahi ho ? “she was making dung roti’s .. uhahahaaaaaa……
Warsi’s dialogue.."Kyun Baar Baar Flop Actor Bolta Hai...Ab Toh Mai Hit Hu"....hehe it was so touchy considering his acting in Munna Bhai and Seher. Ajay Devgan and Arshad Warsi doing a take-off on BLACK was eeeew cool.
I was busy munching on plum cakes ;) , my cousin kept pointing out that Ajay Devgan looked so frail … well I didn’t notice Ajay .. I was busy with Remi Sen .. I mean watching her on the screen. (wink)
OMG I almost forgot ,Tussssshar Kapoor was astounding in this film. His dialogues wah wah .. and sense of timing ..Superb.. Did I mention that he plays a dumb dude?
This is one scene you guys must not miss in Superman Returns.
The heroine and her 3 year old son are captive on a boat and this goonda is guarding them. She says to the kid ”go play the piano”, the kid walks to the piano and starts “ ting ting tong , ting ting tong.” The Goonda looks at her and walks slowly over to the piano. The heroine gasps . The goonda sits next to the boy starts playing the piano TING TING TONG , TING TING TONG. The heroine (whats her name Kate Bosworth ?) faxes a “ Help me” note to her office but the goonda pulls the plug of the fax machine and starts giving Kate a few pattars . Pattar Pattar the kid is terrified. He looks on as the Goonda lifts something (a lamp?? A Chair ? new 1kg surf excel ?) and is about to smash it … when …trrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaang the piano suddenly slams into him.In the next scene the little kid’s hands are frozen in mid air and he is breathing heavily. The $^^**T kid threw the piano (sweet). Psst he’s superman’s son, the super kid.
After reading book 2 “ The Great Hunt” , I could't control my curiosity and I bought book 3 “ The Dragon Reborn” the very next day and for once I was not disappointed. This book was like flying a kite ...a steady cool breeze, cloudless sky, the Vividh Bharati in the background playing “ Fauji bhaiyo ki Farmaish” and suddenly the wind picks up and you are struggling to control the kite and invariably cut your fingers. I think I forgot to mention that you are on the terrace, standing on the edge ;) and after a few minutes of struggling its all serene and quiet as if nothing had happened.
In this book the main characters truly come into their own, settling into and accepting their roles and fates in the world. For a book named the Dragon Reborn, the Dragon Reborn i.,e Rand, plays a decidedly small part in it. Most of the action is focused on Mat, Perrin, and the three Aes Sedai in training.
I really want to thank Robert Jordan for not describing what was going on in Rand's head while he's going mad. Believe me I know how it feels ( uhahahaaaaaaaha ).
Some of the action scenes are truly awesome like Perrin (who can talk to wolves) fighting Trollocs (read an excerpt here) truly sent a chill down my spine. I didn’t give much notice to Mat but gosh he is funny and we learn that he has been cursed to be lucky. There is this instance when Mat is climbing rooftops in the night, thinking he’s the only person on the rooftop when suddenly the Aiel*( warriors) stand up next to him and he’s surrounded by 4 of them. He never noticed them and is taken by surprise and is talking to them when another dude (the thief catcher) comes out from the dark. Mat is swearing when he sees so many people on the rooftop when boom more Aiel stand up behind theThief Catcher. uahhaahaha that was so funny.(read the excerpt here).
I always felt that a book should have a pinch of humor and sarcasm and this book has the right amount . Mr Robert for the love of “Microphones” please don’t let Nynaeve tug her braid so many times, it might just come off.I think my favorite characters are Moiraine and Lan. Of course if you haven’t read any of the books in this series, you would be wondering what the hell I’m rambling about, right?
I am recommending this series to my sister, it seems she’s currently reading some stuff about genetic cloning and listen to this they are successful in creating Angels..uhahahahaha..duh!!
Any fool knows men and women think differently at times, but the biggest difference is this. Men forget, but never forgive; women forgive, but never forget." Thom Merrilyn 47, To Race the Shadow, 549
Actually I wanted the title to be “ Clean your Room”. I had this overwhelming urge to clean my room at 2 am. No not because I was unable to sleep but the second part of the Wheel of Time series, "The Great hunt” had me mystified. I wanted to re read the first book “ Eye of the World” desperately and was unable to find it.
Lets move on .. if the first book “ The Eye of the World” was all about getting us into the story, the second book “ The Great Hunt” carries it through, so many twists and turns, and so well written that you do not wish to put it down.
If in the first book I was a bit frightened by the Aes Sedai in this book I was sort of inclined to believe that they could actually be on the side of the Dragon.Lets see how it goes.
Some parts of the book reminded me of Enid Blyton’s ~Mallory Towers, don’t ask me why and most of the dialogues with the Aes Sedai where similar to Yoda’s 1 liners. These books need a lot of a patience, an eye for detail for some of the more complex story twists and a good memory.
I truly liked the prophecies like this one :
"Twice and twice shall he be marked,
twice to live and twice to die.
Once the heron to set his path.
Twice the heron to name him true.
Once the dragon, for remembrance lost.
Twice the dragon, for the price he must pay."
"The Wheel of Time weaves us all into the pattern as it wills, but sometimes it provides us with what we need before we know we need it."
I was so hooked reading part 2 of the 12 part series that I bought book 3 “ The Dragon Reborn “. It’s much better this way, than cleaning my room :)
