Review of Troy

Watched TROY yesterday night . Thanks PC for sending the DVD all the way from China. Would rate the movie "Timepass". Best Scene: The opening scene features a moment so breathtakingly cool that my jaw literally dropped . A huge warrior throws his spear at Achilles( played by Brad Pitt). In turn, Achilles slowly runs towards the man, leaps into the air and jabs his sword at the man. He hits him in the upper chest and the warrior collapses to the ground dead. This single moment of action is meant to give us a taste of what's to come, but in reality it gives us the single best moment of action in the movie right away. There are some very good action scenes in this movie, of course, but "Return of the King" still beats this movie in terms of the sheer scale of battles. Helen is beautiful . Period . Memorable Dialogues: Hector ( Eric Bana ) to his army :All of my life I have lived by a code and the code is simple: honor the gods, love your woman and defend your country. Troy is mother to us all. Fight for her! Hector : Sometimes the gods will bless you in the morning and curse you in the afternoon. Troy is based on the Greek epic "The Iliad" by Homer. It's in the 3rd spot of my " MUST READ " list. (http://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~joelja/iliad.html). I wonder if Peter Jackson(LOR) has any plans of making"The Mahabharatha".. Hmm that would be one hell of a movie. Did you Know :Achilles was half god (from Thetis) and half mortal (from Peleus) his mother wished to make him immortal. When he was young she dipped him in the waters of the infernal river Styx, found in the Underworld. Thus he became invulnerable, save for the spot on his heel where she held him.
