The Dude : Studying Bsc , Bade baap ka Beta ( Nike shoes ) , Dumb as a Door nail and desperate .Would do anything for his GF .( Majnoo ) Action : Chamiya : Hey do you know Vini ? Dude: Who ? My college ? C : Yes . Dude : Which Branch ?( Acts as if deep in thought) Oh Vini , Yeah I know her . Why ? C:( Gives a Sly smile) ( I catch C checking out my Shirt .... Hello its my Mom's fav color, Pink ...) D: What ? C: I heard that you and her ... D: Who told you .. see that is all you do .. jumping to conclusions , Making assumptions. C: Yeah. So tell me about her. D: Bull Sh*** What! She was in our group and she used to talk to me. Everyone makes a big issue out of it. C: Why are you so nervous ? (By this time I am all ears, hook, line and sinker....) D: (Quickly changes the subject) So when are you treating me? C: When you go to New Zealand. D: Naah I don't wanna go . India is the Best. C: So can I ask your sister about Vini ? (Damn she is good..) D: Sure, go on call her. (Pause, Shakes his head) Bull sh** you cannot project somebody's personality like that (I have no idea what he was talking about. D: Stop that . My friends made fun of me and I screwed them. C: So will you screw me ? (I think I almost fell off the seat …) D: I almost slapped her in front of the class, I even asked her not to talk to me. C: Papa. I feel sorry for her. Silence. My first article....... hah the good old days ......

A short article on India's Most Holy Animal --The Cow On Saturday, I was off to the temple as usual, praying for world peace and hoping that Aish will at last yield to my marriage proposal. It was at this time that I came across the Holy cow. This cow was an udderly massive animal. Two colonies of sparrows could easily play football on its back. People were allowed to 'pet' it and it was enjoying every minute of the attention, giving nonchalant looks, as if someone else was getting petted. It looked a little tickled at times, perhaps because some guys may have petted its erogenous zones by mistake. Its tail seemed to have a life of its own, swatting flies non-stop. I too went near and touched it gingerly. The cow gave me a cold look through its peripheral vision. Tune into Vc and his amazing stories same time next week...... More later got to go ...... A letter with a difference .....

Dear Vinod, Thankyou for the e cards, the cd's..fixing a few things and for being such a good brother. Three cheers to vinod,cool Vc!!! We guys are doing fine and ok here. My daily routine is get up chat with you,yell at sri to wake up (he is the laziest guy in the whole world) go to work,come home ,go for a jog(if i am not tired),cook ,read calvin and hobbes and sleep..... the cycle continues. On weekends we usually go hiking, trekking, swimming or go to beaches. Connecticut has some very good state forests and parks,very good waterplaces and few beaches. Sometimes we watch movies too. We talk about you too and want to see u well settled and well married but right now we feel you are doing fine.So,brother keep up the good work.Enjoy!! Vc tries "Stand up comedy"

3 scientists were selected to do research on " Why and how many people get up at midnight" ? After 2 months , they submit their report, with the following results. The 1st says 5 % get up at midnight to drink water . The 2nd says 5 % get up at midnight to flip their pillows . The 3rd says 5 % get up at midnight to attend nature's call . Fair enough. But these guys have accounted for 15% what about the other remaining 85% Well the other 85 % get up at midnight and go to their respective homes ..... So when i ask the question "What do you do after lunch?" The answers I get are ,, I go have a smoke , I go for a walk , I do this, I do that , and I would go duhh.. "Well guys after lunch I go and wash my hands". Weird People I have a friend who starts the conversation with the line : " Aur batha Vc Baal aur Bacche kaise hai !! "and I retaliate ..". Sab teek hai, thu batha , Teri biwi aur mere bacche kaise hai ". My friend was complaining about Spam mails....Wow I never get any , well maybe because all the mails originate from me :) . Satish , my office colleague, likes to drink lemon Tea . Big deal you say.Well it is , Lemon tea is 2 spoons Amrutangan in hot water .

Basanthi, tumhara naam kya hai?

I remember listening to the audio tapes of Sholay , with my Bro and Sis in the year 1983 , I was 6 then. Man those where the good old days. (Vc sighs ) I feel the high point of Sholay along with its story has to be its background score . The background score is haunting and always stays with you. The songs are the best ever – Yeh dosti, Holi ke din, Mehbooba & the famous broken bottle song ‘jab tak hai jaan’ ( Basanthi in Kotho ke Samne math nachna ). But my Fav would have to be "Koi hasina jab roooot jaathi hai tho..wah wah " . Jai, his mouthorgan and Radha .Damn that was gooooood.... Jai and Veeru, Basanti, Radha the widow , a crippled Thakur , the menacing Gabbar , the blind Maulvi (" Yeh Sannanta Kyun hai Bhai ") were the main characters of the film. Seen it 38 times :)

The Little Rascals has got a very innocent and yet humorous plot about a group of friends who are part of the "He-Man Womun Haters Club," but the club is in jeopardy when one of the members, Alfalfa, falls in love with Darla( she's cute). Things get even worse when a rich kid by the name of Waldo moves to town and steals Darla's affections. It leads to a very funny string of events all leading up to the big race to win a much-sought-after trophy. Great for all ages. The weekend was just like Bangalore's weather: Wet, gloomy and dark.

Friday: Heavy Rains. A branch broke of a tree and Smack fell right in my path. Uff I was lucky. Saturday: Gloomy. Mom didn't want to me to go out. So rented "Collateral" and a Tamil Movie "Madurey ". Sneaked out in the afternoon, finished classes. Boring evening, came back early. Mom was surprised. Saw TripleX, Vin Diesel rocks!!. Sunday: Rainy and Cloudy. 8 am. Went to the vegetable market with mom . My God, mom bought carrots, brinjals, potatoes,drumsticks, tomatoes, beans, cucumber and spinach. No wonder I'm so thin. Yuuck. Got a call from Anand, he's back from Hyderabad. Says Hyderabad Sucks. Plan to meet at Sajjan's Place. Teacher's Day Celebrations at our tution centre. Students present me with two oil lamps, so no classes. Pick up Sri and Off to Sajjan's place. Get caught in the Rain. Bad Evening Overall. Had to drop off Sri at his house , Yelahanka. Went home at 10 30 pm Wet and Cold. Mom was angry, more Dishum Dishum. Had a bad dream, in which I tragically die in a road accident :( . Monday : Why is Bangalore so cold ? The weather Sucks. Feeling kind of Low. Mom is up early preparing Sweets and decorating the Mantapa with flowers . I set off to meet the publishers. On the way see a group of people blocking the road, beep beep, the people disperse. What I saw next shocked the hell out of me. I'm still thinking about the dream and pufff I see a dead body. All decorated with flowers and garlands ,all set to be taken away for cremation. Do I take this as a sign ??? I decide to meet all my favorite people " Kya patha kal ho na ho ". Skip lunch. Drink 7 cups of coffee .( Kept me awake allnight ) Have fun in the evening talking and cracking jokes with my students. Mom has everything ready for the Midnight Puja. The Mantappa is 50 years old and my granny used to decorate it every Krishnajanmastami, all our relatives would stay till 12 and take part in the puja. Now it’s just my parents and me. Ask my mom who would be inheriting the Mantappa (It has to go to the Eldest Son). Mom says I can keep it. I'm still thinking about the dream and give her a sly smile. Watch Becker and Friends, these guys are really funny. Mom wakes me up at 12, I find so many sweets and fruits all around Krishna, envy him. Puja done, Mom breaks her fast and has dinner at 12 30 midnight Uff . We watch Martina in the women’s doubles match,Martina Navratilova is her favorite tennis player. Then continue to watch and Cheer Paes and Martina, in the mixed Quarterfinals as they battle the 17 year old teen sensation Sharapova and Max Mirnyi. Ofcourse our team won!!

I miss my Granny

There is something universal about all Indian grandmothers. For one, they are always in the background. They are all extraordinary ladies who lead ordinary lives. Whatever may be their appearance, they are pictures of dignity. They never once upstage the grandfathers, even though sometimes they bear the brunt of their husbands' irrational outbursts. On the flip side, it isn't too difficult to coax them into a deliriously happy mood that they rush in and make sweets, especially for you. They expect very little out of their grandkids, even though their entire lives revolve solely around their families. I remember my grandma waking us kids at 12 midnight for the Krishna Jayanthi Puja .We would all be sleepy , but My granny was full off enthusiasm . She had 8 children , 3 girls and 5 boys. My father being the eldest of the boys got all the attention , not to mention the butter and Ghee. She had 21 grandchidren and guess what number i am ? Yep Lucky number 13 . Like all grandma's she was an amazing cook .Her repertoire was so enormous she made at least ten kinds of sambhar. Some of her 'surprise' recipes were not always the tastiest, but she would insist that they were good for our health and were certainly the right stuff to improve one's brains to do the schoolwork. After living till a ripe old age of seventy something, my grandmother finally called it quits and died a few years ago. I miss my Granny .

Dear sister Vidya, Thank you for sending the Huge Cadbury gift hamper ( 10 chocolates) , the Greeting and the Rakhi . Well i was expecting a Ferrari but you can always send one for my birthday .Psst you know how i love the color Black . So yesterday night, I go to my room and what do I see, torn bits of gift wrapping , Blue Dart Express, a greeting Card and a Box of Chocolates.... I fear the worst. My first impression was that Jenny had sent something to our residential address , so I check the from address, Conneticut ,USA . Ufff that was a close call . Mom comes in and informs me that the package came in this evening and as it was from you , she opened it . I have a few chocolates here, sharing it with my office colleagues.
